TOGETHER, LET'S CREATE A SHARED VISION FOR CLERMONT

WHY I'M RUNNING
I’m running for Clermont City Council to help create a stronger, more prosperous, and unified Clermont.
We need to hold our leaders accountable to higher standards. We must demand improved communication and engagement, enhanced transparency and accessibility, protection and responsible use of taxpayers’ money, and increased trustworthiness in city government.
We need less showmanship and more leadership.
I am determined to meet these expectations by building trust and establishing confidence with and maintaining respect for the public, city staff, and my fellow council members.
Clermont, we can be better!
Whether you live in Wellness Way, Lincoln Park, Heritage Hills, Highland Ranch, historic downtown, along the water, or near one of our major roadways, I will be a Council Member for everyone who calls Clermont home.
My experience, background, and familiarity with the issues has uniquely prepared me to be an effective Council Member. But, this isn’t about me. It’s about you and your opportunities. It’s about your success and well-being and the success and well-being of Clermont. That’s why, as your next Council Member, we will work together to prioritize:
☆ improving access to information (transparency and engagement),
☆ implementing strategic planning and innovative practices,
☆ protecting financial investments made in the city (tax dollars),
☆ enhancing public safety (police and fire),
☆ investing in infrastructure (roads) and quality of life initiatives (parks and rec),
☆ preserving our waterways and natural resources,
☆ focusing on housing affordability, higher wage jobs, vibrant neighborhoods, and a thriving downtown area,
☆ promoting economic development especially for small and local businesses, and
☆ supporting expanded opportunities for all who call Clermont home.
I’ve always been drawn to service and community, and bring an ego-free, collaborative, and cooperative approach to leadership. The process and end result matter more than who came up with the idea or who gets credit. Service over self.
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of the same old, same old. It’s not just about yes or no, for or against, right or wrong, this side or that side. It’s about Clermont, and what’s in the best interests for the people who live here, work here, pay taxes here, and love this city. We all win when Clermont wins. We’re not seeing this right now, and it doesn't have to be this way.
We need leadership for a change!
I stand ready to listen.
I stand ready to serve.
I will stand up to interests and stand up for you.
Now, I’m asking you to stand up for me.
Stand up for what we can do, together.
And, on November 4th, I’m asking you to elect me to your Clermont City Council.
MY ONLY PROMISE TO YOU
You won’t hear this from others running for office, but it’s the truth, and I'm willing to say it.
“I don’t know it all and I certainly don’t have all the answers. But, my only promise to you is this: to research the issues and ask questions; to respectfully listen to and consider all information; and to work to serve the community and make the best decision possible with the information at hand–you’ll always know where I stand, and why. And, even though we won’t agree on everything, you’ll know and come to count on the fact that, with me, your voice matters, you will be listened to and have a seat at the table, and you’ll always have my respect.”
MEET BRYAN BAIN

Bryan lives near downtown Clermont after moving here six years ago with his husband Tim, though they first visited Clermont nearly ten years ago. They own a home near Lake Minneola, but also lived for several years off of Hartwood Marsh Road. Bryan is a licensed real estate agent at Wheatley Realty Group, located in historic downtown Clermont. Bryan serves on the Clermont Planning & Zoning Commission and is currently the chairperson. Prior to that, he served on the Code Enforcement Board.
Bryan was born and raised in a small town in Indiana, where he learned the values of faith, family, and hard work. He has three sisters, one step-brother, four sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law. The first in his immediate family to attend college, Bryan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology and a Master’s Degree in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education, both from Ball State University.
After graduating college, Bryan moved to Wisconsin to start what turned out to be a 20 year career in higher education. He held various administrative positions at University of Wisconsin campuses in Oshkosh, Madison, and Sheboygan, as well as a small, private institution. He also taught as an adjunct instructor in the Professional Counseling Department at UW-Oshkosh. While living in Oshkosh, Bryan was twice elected to the City Council, serving four years, including one year as Deputy Mayor.
During his time in office, Bryan championed accessibility, accountability, and affordability. He advocated for open communication, citizen engagement, and honest, transparent leadership. He also led the charge to replace the city manager and helped usher in a new era of leadership for the community. Outside of public office, Bryan served numerous local and state higher education, government/civic, and not-for-profit boards, commissions, and organizations–involvement he continues today, locally.
Within the Clermont and surrounding community, Bryan is active in the South Lake Chamber of Commerce–currently serving on the Public Policy and Economic Development Committee, serves on his community's HOA board of directors and on the scholarship review committee for the Lake-Sumter State College Foundation, is a member of the local Realtor Association’s Public Policy Committee, and regularly attends and participates in nearly all local government meetings. He most recently participated in the Lake 100 Political Leadership Program and also completed the City of Clermont Citizens' Academy and the inaugural Clermont Police Department Citizens' Academy.

Personally, Bryan is the proud father of one son and uncle to 27 nieces and nephews. He also serves on the board of directors for a national not-for-profit whose mission is to provide financial and employment support services to Social Security beneficiaries and their families. Bryan believes strongly in serving the greater good, is committed to contributing positively to the community, and firmly believes in the Golden Rule: treat others how he would want to be treated. He is a political and news junkie, fan of pretty much all sports (collegiate and pro), loves coffee and sweets, enjoys being out on the water, and is a life-long Parrothead.
